Worshiping Communities
Ministry Mission Statement

Chapelwood is blessed to have five different worship communities, each of which is designed to meet the many and varied needs of the larger church community.

Whether you're a traditionalist or looking for something more upbeat, whether you speak English or Spanish, even if Sunday morning just doesn't work so well in your life, we've got the service for you.

Prefer the jeans and t-shirt approach? We do that. Rather have something meditative? Check. Take a look below at a short description of each of our worship communities, and consider yourself personally invited to attend any or all of them.

Chapelwood. Embodying God's grace as we receive it to those who need it.

The Branch, formerly known as Esperanza, is Chapelwood´s Spanish-speaking ministry located at 3911 Campbell Road. This worship service is attended primarily by the large immigrant community that lives in the Spring Branch area north of Interstate 10. The Branch´s mission is to know (conocer), share (compartir), and celebrate (celebrar) the hope (eperanza) of God with Hispanic people in Houston.

The Contemplative service offers a respite from the noise and "busyness" of life. Sunday morning, at 8:45 a.m. in the Chapel, pause, and be gently led into God´s presence.

Mercy Street´s mission is to create a safe harbor for the hurt, the lost, and the seeking so that everyone might experience the radical grace of God. Whether you have faith, struggle with your faith, or have lost your faith, Mercy Street opens its doors to everyone, no matter what faith, religion, addiction, or life experience.

Chapelwood hosts three services each Sunday morning in the Sanctuary, each with a distinctly different flavor and feel:

8:25 a.m. - Family worship:
This service emphasizes tradition with warmth. This liturgical, yet multi-sensory service is a time where children are welcomed and trained in worship. Multi-generational families worship together in a high energy, yet meditative environment.

9:45 a.m. - Contemporary worship:
This service is a joyful time to worship a personal God through informal, friendly celebration. The relevant message, praise and worship songs, and choruses accompanied by a live band are presented in a high-energy atmosphere reinforced with "come as you are" attire and a welcoming feeling of community.

11:10 a.m. - Traditional worship:
This service is a reverent time to celebrate a holy, yet loving God´s nearness to us. Organ music, hymns, anthems, robed clergy, paraments, and altar candles are just a few of the elements of formal worship featured at this hour. A meditative atmosphere and relevant sermon provide the capstones for this warm, traditional approach to worship.

The Upper Room is a collection of vibrant and growing community groups who meet during the week to share life and encourage each other´s faith, and join together Sunday mornings at 11:15 in the Upper Room.
