Chapelwood is combining with St. Luke’s UMC, St. Paul’s UMC, Westbury UMC, and Project Curate to install drywall and insulation as a part of the rebuild phase of Harvey cleanup. Together we will identify families who would not otherwise receive assistance and will help facilitate their rebuild efforts. To kick off this process we have hired a project manager, Trevor Bennett.
If you or anyone you know is still in need of mucking out or mold remediation, respond to this email with name, address, and phone number. We are assisting anyone within Harris County who is still in need of this service.
If you are a home owner and would like to be considered to have a volunteer team assist with drywall and insulation, send your information through the link below: We are rebuilding primarily in the following zip codes: 77016, 77024, 77026, 77028, 77055, 7778, 77079,77080
If you have any other Harvey-related needs, please contact 2-1-1 Texas/United Way HELPLINE.
We are hosting volunteer teams throughout 2018. If you would like to bring a team from your church or organization, please fill out the links below:
We can house up to 16 males and 16 females and you will have access to 4 showers, a kitchen, and 30 cots. The team will be responsible for their own transportation, meals, and bedding. We will designate $5,000 per project for supplies. Any donation your church can provide toward this project fee will allow us to assist more families, but there is no financial requirement to bring a team.
If you live in Houston and would like to join a work team, please check this site for future updates. We will soon have opportunities to sign up to join a team.
Also, the Texas Annual Conference (TAC) of the United Methodist Church has selected Chapelwood from among area churches to host a recovery staff of eight UMCOR grant-funded employees dedicated to assisting with Harvey rebuilding work for the next two to three years. Staff will train volunteers in rebuilding efforts including paperwork processing, phone calls, home site evaluation, and labor. Hosting recovery staff is part of a larger vision of using our campuses to house rebuilding teams for years to come. We are hoping that once those offices are up and running, our collaboration of churches can begin working with TAC to continue identifying those homes most in need.
