This service is a joyful time to worship a personal God through informal, friendly celebration. It begins at 9:45 a.m. and lasts about an hour. The relevant message, praise and worship songs, and choruses accompanied by a live band are presented in a high-energy atmosphere reinforced with "come as you are" attire and a welcoming feeling of community. Dove-award-winning musician Wayne Watson is the primary musician in this service; he leads the congregation each Sunday in a wide selection of contemporary Christian music. The message each week is provided by Dr. John Stephens, Chapelwood's senior pastor, with an occasional assist from some of Chapelwood's numerous other pastors.
Feel free to dress in a way that you’re comfortable – you might see a suit or two, but there are plenty of guys without coat or tie. Women wear skirts/dresses or slacks, and while most kids are in Sunday School this hour, kids attending with their parents wear either dresses, pants, or shorts. Very young children might be more comfortable in the nursery, but that is completely up to your family. There’s coffee in the hallway, and we kindly ask that you finish it before entering the Sanctuary. The ushers will hand you a bulletin and help you find a seat if needed. Don’t worry – you won’t be singled out. We know that some people prefer to take their time deciding if a church is right for them, and we respect that.
Come give us a try! We think you'll leave energized and filled with a spirit that will carry you through the week.
