Why The Table?

For thousands of years the table has been the centerpiece of community. When we gather around a table to share a meal or drink a frap, something in our souls signals to our minds that this is right. As we listen and share our lives with others we find that connection God has created in all of us. We were created to exist in rich meaningful relationships with others.

Many people ask where this whole idea of “The Table” came from. It came from this ancient concept and tradition that has lasted generation after generation of sharing a meal around a table where people share their dreams, hopes, fears, and activities of the day. This has changed the last few years in our society dramatically. The busyness of life and disconnection with people has created life on the run without meaningful relationships.

Our hope at “The Table” is for life to happen. Where we slow down long enough to get to know others, trust each other, lean on each other, and grow in our faith together.

A tradition that we share every Sunday evening after “The Table” has been to share a meal together in a local restaurant around a table. Recently we started a new monthly tradition of sharing a meal together in Fellowship Hall where we gather. You are invited to join us as we share a meal together, and offer the opportunity to invite a friend who needs a place like “The Table” where true community exists around a table.
