Meet your leader!
Stuart Jackson
My wife & I started running the Discovery Class a year or two ago. I’m a retired (mostly) anesthesiologist and my wife and I enjoy supporting out two young adult children (JJ & Rebecca) who go to school in Missouri. We’ve both lived in Houston for over 30 years and have lived in the Woodlands, on Lake Conroe, in West University Place and finally in the Memorial Villages. We joined Chapelwood UMC about 15 years ago and have enjoyed the fellowship and worship there.
According to the sign on the door the Discovery Class is a group of about 20 thirty to forty years olds who meet at 10 every sunday for studies. Now, that the sign is about 20 years old, and well, you can figure it out……we still have a good time.
The funnest night of the year is our annual XMAS party where the usual class of 20 soars to 50-60 as old class members join us and parishioners who have other responsibilities during the 10 OClock hour join the group.
Generally we have speakers come in from the church and give 2-8 week talks generally focused on Chapters of the Bible. It’s a low key class and while prereading is encouraged it’s not required and many folks just don’t have time.
During the summer we meet with the Encouragers Class as many folks are out of town.
We look forward to see you soon.
The Discovery Class will be combining with the Encouragers Class in LC214-215 this summer.
Sundays, June 1 - August 10 (no class July 6)
