Join us on Sunday mornings in "The Word", our program for third graders.
In addition to music and worship and our Bible story curriculum, Third Grade Sunday mornings are focused on learning the books of the Bible, how to look up scripture, and reading aloud in a small group setting. At the beginning of the school year, parents are presented with a notebook which outlines the scope and sequence of our lesson plans for the year. Our Chapelwood Children app has several resources under the Third Grade tab, including several Bible Trivia games and YouTube videos of our Traveling Band. Third graders earn special rewards for bringing their Bible each week, and are also offered an opportunity to read scripture during all three sanctuary worship services on the second Sunday of each month. At the end of the school year, we celebrate all that our third graders have learned with a special event, "Are You Smarter Than a Third Grader -- Bible Edition", where our third graders will participate in a friendly competition against each other and some of our Chapelwood pastors!
Adults are strongly encouraged to serve as Small Group Leaders during this milestone year, to help mentor and share their faith with these young disciples. Please consider serving as part of a one-month team as we strive to build more intentional, deeper faith-based relationships.
Come be a part of what our children are learning, sharing and exploring together!
On Sunday, August 23, 2020, our third graders will be given a new Bible, which will include a bookplate with their name and the date. The Bibles will be presented during all three sanctuary worship services -- 8:25 a.m., 9:45 a.m., and 11:10 a.m.
