Fair Haven Day School strives to provide experiences to develop the whole child physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Our philosophy is to offer each child a wide variety of developmentally appropriate practices to support initiative, creativity, autonomy and confidence. We will strive to help our children grow in faith and learn about God's unconditional love and acceptance and how to share love with others.
Educating and nurturing young children from infancy thru kindergarten. The school day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m. Optional extended hours are available for all students from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Fair Haven Methodist Day School closely follows Spring Branch Independent School District’s academic calendar. An additional program during the summer is also offered.
We are very proud of our association with Houston’s Family-Centered Child Care Collaborative (FC4), a network of schools and child care centers that involves parents in implementing and planning services and programs at the school. FC4 enhances the development of child care centers to become family-centered through a consultant support relationship, child care staff training, parent involvement and education, mental health services, and links to community resources.
Fair Haven is also an active member in the Collaborative for Children network — a nonprofit organization that works to improve the quality of early care and education in the Houston area. Partnering with families and community-based organizations, the Collaborative for Children focuses on young children from birth to age six.
High quality early childhood education programs benefit children. Children who experience a quality program have greater academic success, enhanced self-esteem, and increased self-control. There are four factors present in high quality programs:
Fair Haven strives to keep the number of students assigned to each staff member lower than that required by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services’ Minimum Standards.
Teachers participate in various professional growth activities, including seminars and conferences to enhance their content teaching, methods and strategies. All staff receive at least 24 hours of training per year, as well as CPR and first aid certification.
