Pre-Kindergarten at Fair Haven is a whirlwind of activity.  This exciting time in a child’s life is often when specific academic skills develop and emerge (letter recognition, number concepts, time and spatial relationships). Much is occurring in the areas of social and cognitive development, as the students in this class make the obvious transition towards cooperative play and collaborative interactions with their peers and with adults. This class focuses on problem-solving and making good choices and decisions. 

Daily circle time activities may include calendar, weather, coin counting, alphabet, and active discussion centered on the students.  Art, music, computer, gross and fine motor, reading, journal-writing, and developing oral speaking skills are some of the many areas that are built upon in the Pre-Kindergarten class.  Numerous read-alouds and listening comprehension activities are integrated into the thematic lessons that make up the Pre-Kindergarten curriculum. 

Children in the Pre-Kindergarten class must be at least four years old as of September 1.
