Welcome to the Chapelwood School for Young Children!

Chapelwood School for Young Children was established in 1958 as a ministry of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, in an answer to the identified need for quality children's preschool programs in the Memorial area. Chapelwood School cares for and educates nearly 400 children each year and continuously sends our well-prepared students on to Houston's most elite private schools as well as international schools, Texas public schools, and many other schools through the United States.

We have a staff of over 70 teachers, assistant teachers and administrators with education levels ranging from CDA
(Child Development Associate) to Masters Degrees with several Texas Certified Teachers. Chapelwood school is the ONLY preschool in the area with a full-time registered nurse on staff. Our nurse is on call during all operating hours to care for children when they are ill or injured, and conducts annual vision and hearing screenings for all 4 and 5 year olds.

Chapelwood School serves families with children ages 3 months (as of August 31st) through 5 years of age, we ensure all of our children experience the world around them through active learning. Our "hands-on" curriculum, which in turn nurtures their physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, and emotional growth. All of our classes work with a curriculum that ensures the child's developmental readiness for the next level each year. This includes a “Bridge” program for children who have completed Pre-K and need another year of time, experience, and growth before they go to Kindergarten. Our Pre-Kindergarten curriculum meets the Texas Pre-K TEKS guidelines for Kindergarten readiness.

We follow a traditional school year with classes beginning in early September and ending in late May each year. In addition, we offer a 5 day three-week Summer Camp program called Camp Wonder. Our school day is 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. with a variety of schedules ranging from two days a week to four days a week, depending on the age of your child.
