Lent is the Christian pilgrimage that we are invited to take beginning with Ash Wednesday and culminating with the celebration of Easter Sunday. This is a journey that millions of Christian pilgrims have taken and will again this season. The rhythms and terrain of Lent are such that we are invited to explore, repent, examine, practice, and prepare ourselves for this journey. This season, often called the “Bright Sadness” in the Orthodox church, will lead us to a cross on Good Friday and an empty tomb on Easter Sunday with the ultimate proclamation that “He is risen, indeed!”
You’re invited to choose from the resources and practices something that seems particularly useful or needed in your life for drawing near to God in this Lenten season. You may choose to experience Lent in solitude or with a group of fellow pilgrims. If you would like to speak to someone about trying any of the spiritual disciplines, contact Teresa Rossy, Director of Adult Discipleship.
