June 16 - August 11, 2019

History is a guide to navigation in perilous times. History is who we are and why we are the way we are. – David McCullough

In June 2019, Chapelwood will celebrate 70 years of ministry in Houston - 70 years of reaching people with the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ! During our history, we’ve been a church that dances creatively into new ways of doing ministry. We have never been afraid to follow where God leads us, even if those places seemed a little scary at the time. From a little ‘chapel in the woods,’ we’ve grown into one of Methodism’s strongest communities of faith, not just in Houston…but in the world.

This summer, we will celebrate the stories of our history and discover how they are shaping our future. We want to do more than reminisce. We want to be reminded of who we are and why we are the way we are. We also want to begin to dream new stories of what the Next70 will look like.

Join us throughout the summer as we share our stories together. God will give us a new vision of the Next70 of Chapelwood.

If you have unique stories about the history of Chapelwood that point to creative ways Chapelwood has done ministry, please reach out to Karen Firenza at and share them with her. You may also have stories about new things God is doing today as we move into the future. We are hoping to collect stories of the past and also stories of how God is doing a new thing!
