Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and I am life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, yet shall they live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. I died, and behold I am alive for evermore, and I hold the keys of hell and death. Because I live, you shall live also.” Jesus’ words point us to a God who knows our grief, comforts those who mourn, and promises the hope of resurrection.
Chapelwood offers its deepest condolences to your family in this time of grief and loss. As the body of Christ, we come together in Christian community to surround your family and honor the life of your loved one.
SCHEDULING A SERVICE
To schedule a funeral or memorial service please contact Jessica Lara, the Pastoral Care ministry assistant at (713)354-4443 or by email, [email protected]. The first step is to select a date and location. We recommend having two dates as availability and clergy schedules can be limited. Jessica will confirm availability as soon as possible and handle the scheduling of staff (clergy, musicians, ushers, greeters, etc.) and reservations (Sanctuary, Chapel, reception, family room, etc.).
After scheduling a date, you will work directly with the officiating clergy and Jessica Lara to plan the details of your service. Planning a service can be both a stressful and beautiful thing to do in your time of grief. The resources below are helpful guides. After completing the form, Jessica Lara will draft a service bulletin for your approval.

Two business days prior to the service we kindly ask that the following are submitted 1) final bulletin approval 2) final invoice payment and 3) video/slideshow. This allows our staff time to catch any issues or errors and ensure everything is in place for the service. Please note that if your service falls on a Monday, all items must to be submitted two business days prior.
Service Options
Funeral and memorial services may be scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Services scheduled on Saturdays may be scheduled between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., services outside of these times are by special arrangement and must be approved by the Executive Team.
Services may be held in the sanctuary, chapel, or columbarium.

The Fellowship Hall is available if you would like to have a reception after the funeral or memorial service. Our Kitchen Ministry provides several reception packages to choose from, as well as serving staff for a reception.
Receptions are approximately one to one and a half hours. Please speak with Jessica Lara to make reception arrangements.

Services for Non-Members:
Chapelwood considers all cases of bereavement a part of ministerial obligations and the Executive Team will make the final decision regarding the service of non-members. A non-member family will be responsible for all fees associated with the service.
