Join us for a discussion of the Austin author, Amanda Ward, and her newest novel The Same Sky.  This is an emotionally gripping fiction account of very real circumstances of women and their challenges of motherhood.  The book follows the stories of several women, while also addressing the deeply difficult topics of loss, love, loyalty, sacrifice, and family.  Your understanding of border issues, lower income opportunities, and community will be questioned.  It’s a great summer read!

Teresa Cannon will lead our interesting discussion of motherhood, politics, and Christ’s call to find compassion and humanity in these circumstances.  Bring your lunch and join us on September 10 from 12-1:30p.m. in the Fireside Room. The book is available in the Chapelwood Bookstore and anywhere books are sold.  Questions regarding this event can be answered by Diana Bates at

Praise for the book:

The Same Sky is the timeliest book you will read this year—a wrenching, honest, painstakingly researched novel that puts a human face to the story of undocumented youth desperately seeking their dreams in America. This one’s going to haunt me for a long time—and it’s going to define the brilliant Amanda Eyre Ward as a leading author of socially conscious fiction.”—Jodi Picoult, author
