We believe that a bed is a basic need for the proper physical, emotional, and mental support that a child needs. Chapelwood is partnering with Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) which is a charity providing hand-made beds to children who don't have beds of their own. All children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads. Across Spring Branch, too many children go without a bed to sleep on.
On November 16, volunteers will be building, assembling, and delivering bunk beds to children and families in need. The time commitment is from one to four hours.
BUILDING AND ASSEMBLY
Chapelwood Gessner Campus
Fair Haven South Parking Lot
1330 Gessner Road in Spring Branch
The minimum age to volunteer is 8. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. No experience is necessary and all instructions are provided. A video will be sent a few days ahead to registered volunteers explaining how the bed is assembled. All of the tools needed for assembly are provided on site.
DELIVERY
Any car with a hatchback, SUV, minivan, or truck can deliver a bed. There is a four-hour window in the signup for delivery, but a specific time slot to deliver the bed to the family will be scheduled. Please do consider delivering a bed, as this is when you get to show God's love when meeting the family!
Interested in donating to this cause? A small donation can make a BIG difference! You can donate $5 for a pillow to $250 for a mattress, bedding, and the materials to make the bed.
