- About Us
The Walk to Emmaus is a spiritual renewal program intended to strengthen the local church through the development of Christian disciples and leaders. Those who have attended an Emmaus weekend are part of the Emmaus Community. At Chapelwood, more than 200 persons have attended a Houston-based walk and many others have been part of one of the related weekends, such as Journey to Damascus, Tres Dias, Kairos, Cursillo, and others. This night of worship and fellowship is intended to gather as many Emmaus participants as possible, to renew our commitment to supporting upcoming Walks and sponsoring new pilgrims. If you have not yet attended a walk, please feel free to come for worship and find out more about this faith-building experience and ongoing community.
More about Walk to Emmaus: The Walk is a 72-hour short course in Christianity, comprised of 15 talks by laypersons and clergypersons on the themes of God’s grace, disciplines of Christian discipleship, and what it means to be the church. The course is wrapped in prayer and meditation, special times of worship, and daily celebration of Holy communion. Men and women attend separate events that are held in a retreat center over a three-day weekend. Our nearby community is the Houston West Emmaus Community. Learn more at www.hwec.org.
Look for members of Chapelwood’s Emmaus Community on Sunday, February 9, during Second Sunday Lunch from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Gym. There will be at a specially marked table for sharing a meal and spreading the word about Emmaus.
