George Fox once wrote, “Walk joyfully on the earth, and respond to that of God in every human being.” We all experienced quite a bit of trauma since March 2020. We responded to the chaos as humans do – flight or fight. Some of us bunkered down and insulated ourselves, while others of us fought back against the changes around us. Many of us asked, “What good can come of all this?” In times of stress, crisis, or trauma, people often ask that question. We have been hit by a pandemic, unprecedented unemployment, racial struggles, deep political division, and cultural upheaval. In the face of such a tragedy—personal and collective—it might appear that the answer to the question, “What good can come of all this?” is “Nothing.” But as followers of Jesus, we know there is more available to us if we can open our eyes and hearts and sense it.

God is opening new doors. This is a new season of life for all of us. How do we make sense of the past, present, and future considering all we have experienced? The answer is simpler than we realize. We must regain the fundamental spiritual practices and attitudes that lead to a flourishing life in Jesus Christ. Beginning August 15, we will engage in a season of remembrance and reflection, but more importantly we will revisit key spiritual practices that transform life amid chaos. We need to remember; but we also need to reset and reply to situations we face in life using the spiritual practices of God. How can we attune our spirits to God in new ways? It is time to honestly assess our spiritual lives and discover this spiritual roadmap to resilience. These are ancient spiritual practices that that transform our lives and provide resource to face future difficulties with patience, love, and strength.

Come home to Chapelwood beginning August 15, 2021 as we regather our family and equip the body of Christ to lead a flourishing life in difficult days.
