We believe that a bed is a basic need for the proper physical, emotional, and mental support that a child needs. Chapelwood is partnering with Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) which is a charity providing hand-made beds to children who don't have beds of their own. All children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads. Across Spring Branch, too many children go without a bed to sleep on.
On November 16, on the Fair Haven Campus, we will have volunteers in shifts dedicated to building, assembling, and delivering bunk beds to children and families in need.
The minimum age to volunteer is 8. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. No experience is necessary. All instruction is provided. The time commitment is from one to four hours.
Additional information regarding delivery of beds - Any car with a hatchback, SUV, minivan or truck can deliver a bed. A video is sent a few days ahead on how the bed is assembled. All of the tools needed to assemble the bed are given to you. A specific time slot to deliver the bed to the family is scheduled even though there is a four hour window in the sign up. Please consider delivering a bed as this is where you get to show God's love when meeting the family.
Interested in donating to this cause? A small donation can make a BIG difference! You can donate five dollars for a pillow to $250 for a mattress, bedding, and the materials to make the bed.
