We recognize that women – especially those with children and careers – need flexibility in their schedules to include the important, but often neglected element of connecting with God and with other women for spiritual support. We tested this theory last fall with a couple of dozen women in four different groups and found what we think is the “sweet spot” for making time for a small group. We will offer new groups this January to read a book together and share spiritual practices, pray, and study Scripture. Sign up and we will find the time that works for you!
The book is Practicing the Way by John Mark Comer, 2024
John Mark Comer invites us on a journey of Practicing the Way to learn what it means to be an apprentice of Jesus – to be transformed. Jesus invited people to follow Him. His early followers developed the Rule of Life or Halakha, which is more than Jewish law. It also translates to “the way of walking.” As followers of the Way, Comer shares three goals for apprentices in his very readable style:
Be with Jesus, become like him, and do as he did.
Whether someone is a new follower of Jesus, a Christian seeking deeper faith, or a long-time follower who has reached a plateau, Practicing the Way encourages us to be transformed as apprentices of Jesus and adds a new level of “intentionality to our spiritual formation.”
If you must miss your meeting, you can sit in with a different group that week! Each group is facilitated by a “wise woman” who has juggled what you are juggling now!
