If you do not already do so, commit to monthly, proportional giving instead of sporadic (or once a year) giving.

  • Sum up what you gave to the church last year and increase it by an amount that causes you to “cut back” in some area of your spending or saving.
  • Separate that amount into 12 monthly amounts and set up a recurring credit card payment or ACH withdrawal from your bank account.
  • Increase this gift annually as your income increases.


Set a target of reaching the biblical concept of a “tithe” (10% of your income).

  • Commit a significant portion (up to ½) of next year’s salary increase to what you already give to the church as a means of increasing the percentage of your income you give.
